Berlin – “Fit for apps and the Internet”: This is the motto of the “Healthy digital” offer that the replacement health insurance companies TK, BARMER, DAK-Gesundheit, KKH, hkk and HEK have now permanently established. The platform for strengthening digital health literacy is aimed specifically at insured people with little prior knowledge of the topic. The offer started in 2022 as a temporary project and will now be offered permanently after a successful evaluation. Surveys of users have come to the conclusion that “Healthy Digital” effectively conveys the advantages of digital health offerings. Insured persons can therefore continue to find information about electronic patient files, e-prescriptions and other digital health services on healthy-digital.info.

“There are more and more digital offerings in the healthcare sector. So that everyone benefits from it, it is important to also include people who are not particularly fit when it comes to using apps etc. This is where the replacement health insurance fund project ‘Healthy Digital’ comes in and trains digital health skills in a simple way,” emphasizes Ulrike Elsner, Chairwoman of the Association of Replacement Health Insurance Funds. V. (vdek). For two years, the replacement funds worked in collaboration with Share to Care, the Schleswig-Holstein University Hospital, the digital agency TAKEPART and the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans Bredow Institute (HBI) developed offers of help for people with little experience in dealing with digital solutions, implemented them in analog and digital formats and then evaluated them. “With the continuation of ‘Healthy Digital’, the replacement health insurance funds are making a lasting contribution to digital participation and thus to equal health opportunities,” adds Elsner.

Digital and analogue assistance

In addition to printed information flyers, the heart of “Gesund digital” is the website Gesund-digital.info, where users can find a multimedia information and learning offering. There, for example, they experience the added value of digital solutions such as digital health applications and learn how to find reliable health information on the Internet. The digital and analogue assistance is characterized by the simple conveyance of information in easy-to-understand language. In order to take into account the constant digitalization in the healthcare system, the offering will also be further developed as “Gesund digital” continues, for example with new content.

The Association of Replacement Funds e. V. (vdek) is the advocacy group and service provider for all six replacement funds, which together insure more than 28 million people in Germany:
