Bicinrosa is back, the bike ride that crosses Rome to promote correct lifestyles and the prevention of breast cancer. The event, scheduled for Sunday 7 April and organized by the Fondazione Policlinico Campus Bio-Medico, this year has a specific focus on the prevention of hereditary tumors, i.e. those cases linked to a genetic predisposition, today identifiable through DNA tests for recognize specific mutations.

ā€œThe prevention of breast cancer also involves lifestyle, as well as essential screeningā€, explains Vittorio Altomare, director of the Breast unit of the Campus Bio-Medico University Polyclinic Foundation. In fact, the risk of getting ill can increase with ā€œhigh alcohol consumption, obesity and metabolic syndrome, associated with a sedentary lifestyle and high-calorie diets rich in fats and simple carbohydrates. The advice ā€“ he continues ā€“ is therefore to practice regular physical activity, adding to the classic daily walk also an additional commitment in the gym, on a bicycle, in the swimming pool, in running, in dancing or in any sporting activity of oneā€™s likingā€. Godmother of the event will be Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duchess of Calabria and Palermo: ā€œIn a society increasingly aware of health and well-being ā€“ she states ā€“ it is crucial to focus on the prevention of breast cancer, a pathology that affects millions of women around the world. In 2023, approximately 55,900 cases of neoplasia were recorded, with an increase of 0.5% compared to 2020. From this perspective, young people like me also play a fundamental role in promoting a culture of active prevention. It therefore becomes essential to invest in genetic analysis tools capable of anticipating predisposition to the disease, and intervening at a young ageā€, he concludes. Anyone who intends to support the initiative can participate in the event by registering on the page or give their support to prevention and research with a donation:
