Bnl: account anomalies, customers report incorrect charges. The bank: “Technical problem solved”

by admin

Multiple charges for many customers, who in some cases found themselves with zero accounts: a negative surprise on the eve of Easter for some Bnl-Bpn Paribas account holders and which the bank assures it has identified and resolved. Numerous reports have arrived, such as that of an account holder from Catanzaro who was charged nine times the two installments that he had due today and who, having noticed what had happened, published a post on Facebook.

“Within a few minutes – he says – I was inundated with similar messages from others in the same conditions. At least a hundred. Unfortunately, however, in my case the total that was charged to me, 9 times, exceeded the sum of 5 thousand or so euros, leaving me practically penniless. A similar report also came from a well-known lawyer from Catania, who wrote a certified email to his branch. “I inform you that I have found nine unauthorized charges on my account , each of 140 euros, indicated as “utility costs”. Immediately afterwards, however, bank sources announced that “the cause of the anomalies recorded by Bnl customers on their accounts was identified and the technical problem was resolved”.

In essence it seems that an exclusively technical error led to multiple charges on the current accounts of several customers but the anomaly was overcome around 11am.

The interested customers would already be checking on their accounts that the figures are aligning, it is explained, while the credit institution has informed customers through its digital channels, initially managing an exceptionally high number of calls which generated, at the at the same time, a temporary congestion of phone banking. The Bank, it is assured, is continuing its monitoring action and activities aimed at fully restoring normal and correct operations.
