Five minutes before the break, what seemed to make this a very pleasant Easter evening for the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge happened.
- Lorenz Assignon made a penalty and received his second yellow card.
- Burnley coach Vincent Kompany received a red card for protests
- Cole Palmer converted the penalty to send Chelsea into the lead
Chelsea went into the break feeling good and hoping for much-needed points.
At the same time, not too far away, rivals Tottenham were struggling. Former Manchester United talent Tahith Chong had sent Luton into the lead after just three minutes.
After the break, it would turn around for both teams.
Tottenham turned around after an own goal by Issa Kabore and a score by Heung-Min Song. Then Spurs would also have been millimeters away from scoring, but the goal line technology is merciless:
Back at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea struggled more. Joshua Cullen had equalized for Burnley. Cole Palmer scored his second with twelve minutes remaining and the home fans thought they could breathe a sigh of relief.
Three minutes later: 2-2 by Dara O’Shea after a big mistake by Petrovic. Burnley had come back twice, with one less player on the pitch.
