He is a 67-year-old dentist and she is 64-year-old retired, during the process with shortened rites for two fires that would have started between May and June 2021 in a complex in Buccinasco, which housed the Fit Boutique gym on the ground floor and on the higher than a pilates center, now they risk 12 years in prison: it is the penalty requested today by the prosecutor Marina Petruzzella during the process with an abbreviated procedure for Gian Lauro Bianchi and Giovanni Vai.
The motive? “Jealousy” and “revenge” against the owner of the center who “after a long relationship – we read in the charge – had left the dentist clean” and that the new complicit girlfriend “for years lived as his rival”. As the investigations that also led the couple to prison have reconstructed, Bianchi and Vai, both cleansed, wanted to “give a lesson” to the owner of the fitness rooms: he would not have accepted the end of the relationship and together with his new partner, pushed instead from rivalry, on the evening of May 28, 2021 after having “brushed with a white substance” the lens of the surveillance camera of the gym, they doused the methane pipes with petrol and started the fire through “a long slow burning fuse”. Only a quick intervention of the Fire Brigade had “averted the worst”.
The first attempt failed, a month later the couple, who also tried to sidetrack the investigation, tried again. He tried to burn the Pilates center directly, but without success: the fuse, “a long red cotton thread” did not catch fire also due to the excess of silicone that the two defendants would have applied to the base of the door of the room to seal it and prevent the flames and vapors from spreading on the landing. The sentence of the gup Livio Cristofano is expected for next 21 July.
The 67-year-old had not accepted the end of the relationship and together with his new partner, who for years had been the rival of the first, on the evening of 28 May 2021 after having obscured the lens of the video surveillance camera of the gym, they sprinkled with petrol methane pipes and ignited the flames with a carefully placed long slow-burning fuse. Only a timely intervention of the Fire Brigade had prevented an explosion. A month later, on June 27, they would decide, after the first failed attempt, to burn the pilates center directly. In this case, the fire did not occur because the ignition fuses had gone out in the bud also due to the excess of silicone that the two defendants had applied to the base of the door with the intention of preventing any flames from being able to come out onto the condominium landing. During the investigations between the two fires, both Bianchi, defended by the lawyer Massimo Schiro ‘, and Vai, assisted by the lawyer Edmondo Capecelatro Gaudioso of Morrone, would have tried to mislead the investigators by accusing the owner of the pilates center of the first fire. The sentence of the gup Livio Cristofano is expected for the hearing on 21 July.
