The pain of the sisters of the women victims of two of the most dramatic feminicides that have shocked Italians in recent months is united in a single, common and intense feeling. While Chiara Tramontano returns to express her contempt for Alessandro Impagnatiello, Elena Cecchettin gives her solidarity to the Tramontano family for the narration, which she considers disrespectful, in the press and on social media of the story of the murder of the young woman who was seven months pregnant.
Alessandro Impagnatiello appeared on Thursday before the judges of the Court of Assizes of Milan at the first hearing of the trial in which he is accused of murder aggravated by premeditation, termination of pregnancy and concealment of a corpse. The former barman, 30, in four minutes of spontaneous statements, with his voice broken by emotion, defined what he did as “inexplicable and inhuman”.apologizing to his ex-partner’s family who on May 27th she massacred with 37 stab wounds in the apartment they shared in Senago, also killing the child she was carrying after the young woman discovered the betrayal. A murder which, say prosecutors Alessia Menegazzo and Letizia Mannella, he had been planning for three months, attempting to eliminate mother and child with periodic administration of doses of rat poison and ammonia.
Chiara Tramontano couldn’t stand it and, as soon as the hearing was over, she wrote to the self-confessed murderer on social media that he had no right to apologize nor to “pronounce, invoke or think” the name of Giulia and the unborn child Thiago: “You deserve to wake up in prison every day”. Harsh words, sharp as blades to which yesterday he adds a new, contemptuous comment posted together with the “Caffé”, dedicated in the Corriere della Sera to the statements of the accused, in which Massimo Gramellini writes that “Impagnatiello does not honor the victim, but he plays the victim, trying to move public opinion to compassion.” Chiara Tramontano adds that the former barman only made an “ephemeral attempt to insinuate a one-night blackout” by trying to pass off the murder as a reckless and unplanned act. “Your cruelty and inhumanity continued for six months in which you poisoned my sister and my nephew, premeditating their death. You or your advisors may have forgotten it, not me», she admonishes him.
In an ideal embrace on social media, Elena Cecchettin, sister of the other Giulia, echoes her, the graduate student who in November was stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend Filippo Turetta, who was then arrested in Germany on the run after having disposed of the body. “The narrative of gender violence must change”, the young woman posed, criticizing the excessive space given to her stories about Impagnatiello in the courtroom and their creation. For this reason we feel the duty to express “solidarity with the family of Giulia Tramontano”, “imagine being the family of a victim of femicide and, after the first hearing of the trial, seeing every newspaper headline articles and front pages with tears and haircut of the femicide”. You accuse the press of covering feminicides in a “disrespectful manner” and only to attract clicks on websites by citing the murderer more than the victim.
“We hope that the outcry does not jeopardize the serenity of a debate which still has important aspects that need to be clarified”, says the lawyer Samanta Barbaglia who defends Impagniatielo with her colleague Giulia Geradini. Â «His statements are spontaneous, the result of the critical review that he has developed in recent months», declare the lawyers to whom the man said: Â «I am ready to accept the punishment that the judges deem adequate for what I have made in”.
