José María Cruz Fernández, a renowned cardiologist, has been officially inaugurated as a full academician of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Seville (Ramse), specializing in the field of Cardiology. The ceremony took place in a public and extraordinary session at the Ramón y Cajal Hall on Sunday, where Cruz delivered his entrance speech titled ‘From the heart from the heart: Reflections on Cardiology from my experiences’.

Cruz, who is an expert in various aspects of cardiology such as cholesterol, arterial hypertension, heart attack, palpitations, heart failure, and valvular heart disease, is considered a national and international reference in the field. He has served as the honorary president of the Spanish Society of Cardiology and as the head of service at the Virgin Macarena Hospital in Seville. Additionally, Cruz has supervised 37 doctoral theses as a full professor of Cardiology at the University of Seville.

During his speech, Cruz highlighted the historical significance of cardiology, emphasizing the importance of heart health and the role of positive feelings in maintaining a healthy heart.
