Centro Cerbaiola, inspection of the Nas: “Gym replaced by equipped rooms, new fixtures are needed”

by admin

The activities foresee the involvement of voluntary associations, of the local community in order to make known the potential of the children and to make visible the service and the work carried out in the territory.

Empoli’s municipal administration has always paid constant attention to the structure of Villa Cerbaiola.

Recently the councilor for social policies Valentina Torrini visited the villa together with Enrico Sostegni, president of the Regional Health Commission. In addition, the requests received from the parents’ association but also personally from the individual parents themselves have allowed the municipal administration to collect the real needs of the structure.

Among other things, news of the very last few days, in particular of last September 15, is the inspection by the Nas of Florence of the carabinieri command for the protection of health inside the structure which produced a report on the current conditions of the center.

“I have often met the parents of the guests of Cerbaiola in these two years, both during the various initiatives organized by the associations, and during visits to the structure. For us, the well-being of guests and their families is a priority. All of them – underlines the commissioner Valentina Torrini – have always represented me the pleasure of accompanying their children to Cerbaiola, because despite the limitations of an ancient structure, of which they are aware, they tell me that the beauty of the Villa and the park that it surrounds it, but also the many activities that are carried out inside it, are liked by the family members who frequent it. A circumstance that seems peaceful to me, since no one in recent months has ever declared the opposite.

The inspection of the NAS in recent days, it seems to me that it is going to highlight what has been reported by the ASL several times, or that it is a structure in accordance with the law, but with the limits of an old building. That said, both the municipal administration and the ASL have an interest in acknowledging the requests of parents where possible.

For this reason, during a recent meeting in Cerbaiola, in the presence of the regional councilor Sostegni, the director of the SDS and the ASL managers, precisely on the proposal of these, we started a process to verify the possibility of intervening with the replacement of the fixtures on the ground floor and thus reduce the dispersion of heat that inevitably characterizes an old building in the winter and summer.

It is a path that requires several steps and opinions, also from the Superintendency, since the Villa is subject to constraint, but which we started in the interest of the guests of Cerbaiola. Again for these reasons, we would also like to intervene on the bathroom on the ground floor, which is marked by time “.

According to the Nas, the non-use of the so-called ‘gym’, or rather the room used as a gym in recent years, is replaced by the use of “dedicated spaces, other than the gym, to fulfill the criterion / requirement set out in DPGR 2R / 2018, which provides for ‘a space used for motor and / or occupational activities with relative equipment and with aids for individual and / or group rehabilitation maintenance ”.

In addition to having tens of square meters available outside, in the green, Cerbaiola, on the upper floors, has various rooms equipped with motor devices.

The old gym, also for this reason, is no longer used. It should be added that, when it was possible, or before the pandemic, both in 2018 and partly in 2019 and 2020, the motor activity was expanded and some people attending Cerbaiola participated in projects in collaboration with ACSI Montelupo. In particular, in 2020 the project envisaged compensatory interventions given the closure of the center. In summer 2020 the “jump the obstacle” project was carried out, again in collaboration with ACSI.

As for the toilets: the Nas always write that “they are adequate in number to the current legislation, albeit in some cases old and necessary for maintenance: renovations are planned and in any case the adaptation is followed and is consequent to the findings of the supervisory commission “.

The carabinieri refer to the fact that the health company has already made itself available to carry out a modernization intervention. In any case, the Villa is served effectively even on the upper floors by toilets.
As regards the fixtures, evidently both the owner of the structure, the Municipality of Empoli, and the manager, the ASL Toscana centro, shared the opportunity for a replacement.

The ASL is drawing up a project for the replacement of the fixtures with more modern devices, a project that will have to pass both from the authorization of the Municipality of Empoli, and from that of the Superintendency to the architectural artistic heritage of Florence as the villa is a listed asset. This intervention could probably be completed by next winter.

In the meantime, the question of the temperature inside the villa, since last winter, has improved considerably in winter as the heating systems are no longer activated from early Monday morning, but from Sunday evening, thus allowing guests to arrive. at the beginning of the week to stay in rooms with a more than pleasant temperature.
