The Alliance for Child and Youth Health e. V. (Alliance KJG) started the year 2024 with a new board. Prof. Dr. Jörg Dötsch, also President of the German Society for Child and Adolescent Medicine (DGKJ) until December 2023, and Dr. Thomas Fischbach, who was also President of the Professional Association of Pediatric and Adolescent Doctors (BVKJ) until November 2023, resigned from his board positions at the Alliance KJG in accordance with the statutes after many years of commitment to child and youth health.
Both actively shaped the successful transition from the German Academy for Child and Adolescent Medicine (DAKJ) to the KJG alliance. In times of numerous new developments and constantly changing conditions, they have succeeded in creating the conditions for greater immediacy through the participation of everyone involved as equal partners on an equal footing. “For a future-oriented, sustainable collaboration, precise knowledge of the situation in the area of child and adolescent health is just as essential as continuous exchange between the partners,” emphasizes the remaining deputy board member, Dr. Andreas Oberle, who is a constant on the alliance board and stands for continuity in the alliance’s work. The alliance in its current organizational structure offers the best guarantee that the needs of children and young people to grow up healthily remain in focus because the expertise of the respective individual companies can be more targeted and therefore better integrated.
Prof. Dötsch and Dr. For their outstanding achievements, Fischbach can rightly be described as a “midwife” for the alliance. With their many years of professional experience, high level of professional expertise and persistent commitment, they have successfully worked together as alliance board members to improve pediatric care. This enabled them to make the concerns of child and youth health much more heard in politics and the public.
The successor to Prof. Dötsch, with a simultaneous change in the presidency at the DGKJ, was Prof. Dr. Ursula Felderhoff-Müser took part. Dr. Michael Hubmann took over the presidency of the BVKJ last November and, in accordance with the statutes, will succeed Dr. Fischbach on the board of the alliance. It is now your responsibility, together with the deputy board, Dr. Andreas Oberle, to build on the successful work of their predecessors and to further promote the cohesion and common commitment of the alliance members. Dr. Oberle, who accompanied the transition from the DAKJ to the Alliance for Child and Youth Health from the beginning, emphasizes that only networked, joint action leads to the long-term goal, and refers to the quote from Henry Ford: “Coming together is a beginning. Staying together is progress. Working together is a success.”
