Leap forward in the weekly incidence of Covid and RT cases, the rate of transmissibility. Nationally the incidence reaches 46 cases of Covid per 100,000 inhabitants (in the week 22-28 October) compared to 34 last week.

In the period 6-19 October 2021, the mean Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was equal to 0.96 (range 0.83 – 1.16), just below the epidemic threshold and a marked increase compared to the previous week when it reached the value of 0.86. These are the data of the weekly Covid monitoring Iss-Ministry of Health under examination of the Queen’s cabin.

The expected Rt exceeds the epidemic threshold of 1, essentially the data projected to next week, which sees a further increase in the transmissibility index to 1.14 (1.13-1.16), calculated on partially complete data and partially charged for the last week.

Ordinary hospitalizations are increasing while intensive care remains stable. This was revealed by the weekly report Iss-Ministry of Health under examination by the control room. The employment rate in intensive care is stable at 3.7% (Ministry of Health daily survey as of 28/10). The employment rate in medical areas nationwide rises to 4.5% from 4.2% last week.

“The estimates of Rt are believed to be insensitive to the recent increase in the number of swabs performed, since these estimates are based only on symptomatic and / or hospitalized cases”.
