Cultural Program “Tales of Traditional Chinese Medicine” Launched by China Media Group and Partners

China Media Group, National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences have jointly launched a new cultural program titled “Tales of Traditional Chinese Medicine,” produced by CCTV Pioneer Media & Entertainment Co., Ltd. The program aims to promote the culture of traditional Chinese medicine and highlight its important contribution to the advancement of world civilization.

The show debuted on CCTV-1 on December 23, 2023, and will be re-aired on CCTV-4 on December 25, 2023. It will also be available on the CCTV App and CCTV.com online.

Consisting of 11 episodes, each 90 minutes long, the program is designed to showcase the scientific value and cultural characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine. It brings together nearly a hundred authoritative traditional Chinese medicine teachers, experts, and cultural scholars to explore the history spanning thousands of years.

The program, “The Pulse of Chinese Medicine,” offers a panoramic presentation of the wisdom contained in traditional Chinese medicine, allowing the world to understand the long history of Chinese civilization. It also aims to decode Chinese civilization and express the connotation of traditional Chinese medicine in a scientific, modern, and life-oriented way, while improving public literacy and health awareness.

As 2023 marked the 60th anniversary of China’s first medical team being sent overseas to Algeria in 1963, the program provides insight into how traditional Chinese medicine has evolved over the past 60 years in relation to medical care from foreign aid. It also highlights the efforts of generations of practitioners who have carried the wisdom and charm of traditional Chinese medicine abroad, contributing to the international community’s understanding and acceptance of Chinese medicine culture.
