Dengue, suspected case in Busto Arsizio (Varese): three days of disinfestation

## Suspected Case of Dengue Reported in Busto Arsizio

A suspected case of Dengue has been reported in Busto Arsizio, located in the province of Varese. The Municipality received a report from ATS Insubria regarding a resident on via Ippolito Nievo and immediately took action by initiating mosquito disinfestation in the area surrounding the road. The treatments started on Friday evening and will continue until Sunday, March 24th.

The administration has advised citizens to keep their windows closed during the treatment and to avoid leaving pets, food, or clothes outside. Additionally, residents are urged not to consume fruit or vegetables from their garden for 30 days following the operation.

Following the report from ATS Insubria, the Municipality of Busto Arsizio has taken steps to protect public health and prevent the spread of diseases carried by insect vectors, such as the Aedes mosquito responsible for Zika, Chikungunya, and Dengue.

The disinfestation treatments, including adulticidal and larvicidal methods, will be carried out as recommended by ATS. A precautionary intervention area has been defined within a 200-meter radius of Via Nievo, which includes several road sections in the vicinity.

Furthermore, the ordinance issued by the Municipality requires residents and businesses in the affected area to use repellents, wear protective clothing when outdoors, and take measures to eliminate stagnant water where mosquitoes can breed. These precautions are aimed at preventing the further spread of Dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.

Residents are encouraged to follow the guidelines provided by the Municipality and ATS Insubria to ensure their safety and well-being during this time of heightened concern.
