Palestra Popolare Palermo Achieves Double Gold at Bertoletti Trophy
San Zenone al Lambro, Italy – The Palestra Popolare Palermo team has clinched two gold medals at the Bertoletti Trophy, organized by the Italian Powerlifting Federation. The tournament, held at the sports hall in San Zenone al Lambro, saw fierce competition among the country’s strongest bench press players.
Verdiana Mineo, a revered powerlifter and the current record holder for 2022, defended her title and secured another gold medal in the 76-kilo senior category. Mineo successfully lifted an impressive 107.5 kilos, demonstrating her exceptional strength and skill. In the 93-kilo senior category, Omar Diallo emerged victorious, claiming the top spot with a remarkable lift of 195 kilos. Diallo, a last year’s winner and also a record holder, showcased his superior powerlifting abilities.
Expressing her satisfaction, Mineo, who serves as both an athlete and coach for the popular Palermo gym, stated, “These medals are a great achievement for our team. We understand that to solidify our success, we must exhibit dedication, perseverance, and determination.” She further added, “We will head home and immediately start preparing for the upcoming competitive events.”
