The Draghi government is ready to further weaken health care with almost 6 billion in cuts: this is what emerges from the Nadef, the Update of the Def (Document of Economics and Finance) which was recently approved by Parliament with a majority resolution.
In this sense, if on the one hand the majority document provides that the Government undertakes to consolidate the growth of GDP and to use budgetary resources also for health care, on the other hand, reading the Nadef we note that in recent years (between 2022 and 2023) yes it will further damage the health system with a decrease in expenditure planned for the latter.
Draghi cuts 6 billion in healthcare
After increasing health care costs by 6 billion in 2021, with an expected expenditure of 129 billion, for 2022 the figure indicated is 125 billion, while in 2023 it is expected to pay out 123 billion. In practice, spending will decrease by 4 billion next year and another 2 billion in two years, which means that within 2 years, 6 billion less will be made available to healthcare. The slight increase in spending made into account for 2024, the year in which 124 billion is expected to be spent, will be of little use.
