Elanco Animal Health Launches VitaVet Platform to Support Veterinary Professionals

This year, World Veterinary Day highlights the crucial role of veterinarians in the field of health. Elanco Animal Health is proud to join this celebration by introducing VitaVet, a platform dedicated to offering support to the veterinary community.

VitaVet provides useful tips aimed at improving both the professional and personal well-being of veterinarians. The content is backed by scientific data and has been developed in collaboration with renowned experts in the field.

As a gesture of solidarity with veterinary professionals, the Elanco team has created VitaVet candies, specially designed for veterinarians. Over 6,700 clinics in Spain and Portugal have received a box of VitaVet candies as a gift during the week of April 22. In addition, Elanco volunteers personally distributed VitaVet candies in veterinary clinics on April 24 and 25, demonstrating their support for the veterinary community.

Amanda Andre, veterinarian and Marketing Manager at Elanco Animal Health, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting veterinarians in overcoming the challenges they face, such as stress, burnout, and anxiety. The VitaVet initiative is part of Vetnia, a program aimed at promoting the importance of the veterinary profession, enhancing the knowledge and health of professionals, supporting the growth of veterinary clinics, and providing effective solutions for patient care.

Recent studies have highlighted the high levels of stress, anxiety, and burnout among veterinary professionals. According to a study conducted by Vetbonds in Spain, 77% of veterinary professionals show signs of work stress, with 14% experiencing a high level of work stress. Furthermore, 1 in every 2 participants in the study exhibits high anxiety indicators, and 78% show signs of secondary traumatic stress.

Jaume Fatjó, director of Vetbonds and Doctor in Veterinary Medicine, emphasized the importance of veterinarians prioritizing their emotional well-being, seeking professional help when needed, improving communication with clients, and developing skills to manage stress effectively.

Addressing burnout in the veterinary profession requires a collective effort involving professionals, institutions, companies, and society at large. Elanco’s VitaVet platform aims to support and empower veterinary professionals in maintaining their well-being and providing the best possible care for their patients.
