Empowering Women Through Sports: The Running Mothers Conference and Training Sessions

This week in Feminine Singular, we spoke with Patricia Bonilla, national athletics coach, hypopressive instructor, communication expert, and director of runningmothers.es about the upcoming sports and women’s well-being conferences that will be held in Las Rozas as part of International Women’s Day activities. Alongside Samantha Chocron, the director of runningmothers.es, we learned about how the idea of organizing a training group for mothers, known as Running Mothers, was born.

The inspiration behind Running Mothers came from a group of mothers who, despite having little time, had a lot of energy and needed a space to come together after becoming mothers. What started as a small group of five women has now grown to include fifty participants, showcasing how motherhood can be a motivation to play sports and overcome limits. The movement has expanded to feature club t-shirts in popular races and podiums, highlighting the impact of training in a group with similar concerns.

To further support the growth of Running Mothers both athletically and emotionally, Women’s Sports and Wellbeing Conferences have been organized. These conferences will take place at the Navalcarbón Sports Center in Las Rozas on March 9 and 10, as part of the International Women’s Day activities by the City Council.

The conferences will include round table discussions on topics such as self-care, nutrition, physical and emotional wellbeing, as well as the role of sport as medicine and a tool for social inclusion. Featured speakers will include experts in various fields, including dermatology, dietetics, psychology, and athletics.

Registration for the conferences is free and can be done through the runningmothers.es Instagram account or via email. All mothers, as well as women who are not mothers and men who wish to attend, are welcome. The family-friendly facilities where the conferences will be held encourage the participation of the whole family.
