Through the European alert system for food and feed – RASFF, the seizure of n. 14,400 single-serving tea bags (Annex 1) under the Meridetox Tea Premium brand from Turkey and hidden inside a vehicle complex landed in the port of Trieste. Following the analyzes carried out at the local Customs laboratory, the presence of sibutramine was found, a substance with pharmacological activity whose use is prohibited in food supplements as it is the active ingredient of slimming medicines.
Notification RASFF 2024.3007 was carried out by the PCF of Trieste and transmitted to the European Commission.
It is therefore recommended not to consume this product which can be purchased on various online sites.
