Dome-shaped, transparent and non-vascularized: it is the cornea, the most important lens of the eye. It is, in fact, responsible for the passage of light which, thanks to it, manages to reach the retina correctly. Together with the crystalline, it allows the eye itself to perform the function of a lens as a whole (as if it were a pair of glasses).
Not only that: the cornea also performs an important protective function by ensuring the integrity of the eyeball and preventing the access of pathogens (bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites) inside.
