Faculty of Medicine, 50 more places in Naples: “Federico II University awarded”

It is the most awaited date of the year by freshmen who dream of the white coat. The Minister of University and Research, Maria Cristina Messa, yesterday signed the decree 1111 which defines, provisionally, the places available for access to the single-cycle master’s degree program in Medicine and Surgery for the academic year 2022/2023. The increase in the number of places available has been confirmed, which in total, in this first phase, are 14,740. A significant increase compared to the places made available by the Miur last year, when they were a total of 14,020. In addition to the decree for Medicine and Surgery, other ministerial decrees have also been published that define the available places, always provisional, for the master’s degree courses in Dentistry, dental prosthesis (1,330 places), Veterinary Medicine (1,040 places) and Health Professions ( 31,730 places). From tomorrow, candidates who want to register to take part in the admission tests can do so through the dedicated Universitaly portal. National tests will take place on 6 September for candidates for Medicine and Dentistry, 8 September for Veterinary and 15 September for Healthcare Professions. This year the test will change in terms of content: fewer questions of general culture and logic, more questions of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. However, the biggest news will come next year when the access modalities will change with the arrival of the Tolc which can be carried out since the fourth year of high school and twice in the same year.

Let’s see how many Campanian universities have obtained available places. The University of Naples Federico II last year it had obtained 558 places while this year 608, that is 50 more places. The degree course in Medicine in English, on the other hand, remains unchanged: there are always 15 places available. The University of Campania Vanvitelli last year it had obtained 550 seats, of which 300 in the Caserta headquarters and 250 in the Naples one, while this year the increase is just 20 seats: the total is in fact 570 seats, of which 310 in Caserta and 260. Good instead the increase for the degree course in Medicine in English: in 2021 he had obtained 40 places and this year he gets 50, therefore 10 more. The University of Salerno instead it has not obtained any increase: also this year it will have 156 seats available.

This year the types of quizzes for aspiring white coats also change. The tests, scheduled for September 6 (13 in English) will have fewer questions of general knowledge and logical reasoning in favor of the questions of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. In total there will be 60 questions to be solved in 100 minutes: there will be 4 questions of reading skills and knowledge acquired in the studies, 5 of logical reasoning and problems, 23 of biology, 15 of chemistry and 13 questions of physics and mathematics. But the main news will come from the academic year 2023/24 when the Tolc (Cisia Online Test) will be introduced: the quizzes will be repeatable, that is, they can be carried out by candidates starting from the fourth year of upper secondary school (or even those who have already obtained a diploma) and twice a year. The tests can be carried out in advance of the methods currently adopted and the candidate can use the scores obtained, over the two-year period, in order to participate in the admission competition to the degree course of interest; the specific days in which the tests can be carried out will be advertised and dedicated computer stations will be used, in compliance with the organizational autonomy of the universities. From tomorrow and until 3 pm on 22 July, you can register through the Universitaly portal, indicating where you will go to take the test and the universities chosen in order of preference.
