Regional Council Allocates 80 Thousand Euros for Free Fibromyalgia Treatment

In a move to support those suffering from fibromyalgia, the regional council has announced a significant allocation of funds for 2024. With an allocation of 80 thousand euros, the council has decided to provide free pharmacological treatments for people suffering from this chronic and disabling disease.

Mabel Riolfo, regional councilor of the League, explained, “The first help was already provided last year by our Region, which therefore continues even now, waiting for this pathology to be recognized by national law among the disabling ones and for those who suffer from it to have free treatment and medicines.”

Fibromyalgia primarily affects women of childbearing and working age, and in Liguria, there are around 700 people currently being treated for the disease. Early diagnosis is essential in order to adequately treat the disease, as the symptoms include widespread pain, tiredness, lack of sleep, and a sharp drop in mood.

The 80 thousand euros allocated by the Region will cover the needs for the purchase of class C analgesic and muscle relaxant drugs intended for sick people. This move is a significant step towards providing support and relief for those suffering from fibromyalgia in the region.
