Fire in the Tresigallo La Nuova Ferrara gym

In the late hours of Saturday night, the town of Tresigallo was shaken by a fire that broke out in the gymnasium of the middle school on Via dello Sport. The incident, which occurred around 11:30pm, prompted a swift response from the firefighters of Copparo, Codigoro, and Ferrara.

Thanks to their quick intervention, the flames were extinguished before causing extensive damage. However, the firefighters remained on the scene until the early hours of Sunday morning to ensure that there were no hidden embers that could reignite the fire.

The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical fault, possibly stemming from a short circuit in the photovoltaic system on the roof of the building. While investigations are ongoing, no hypothesis, including the possibility of arson, has been ruled out.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the fire, and the damage was contained to one wall of the gym. The gym, which is part of the school structure, did not sustain significant structural damage, and the adjacent classrooms were unaffected.

Maurizio Barbirati, deputy mayor of Tresigallo, personally assessed the damage caused by the fire and confirmed that the school building will be safe for students to return to in the coming days. In the meantime, students will temporarily use an alternate gymnasium in the area for their physical activities.

As the community comes together to assess and address the aftermath of the fire, the town remains grateful for the quick response and expertise of the firefighters who worked tirelessly to protect their community.
