For the first time in the world, a 56-year-old man, suffering from polycystic disease with liver and kidney involvement since birth, was saved with a sequential transplant of fecal microbiota and then liver, at the Molinette hospital in Turin in collaboration with Gemelli From Rome.
A clinical case, with a process lasting 120 days, which has already received recognition from the international scientific literature, having been published in the journal Transplant Infectious Disease. The man – as hospital sources explain – is now convalescing at home and is undergoing nutritional and motor recovery.
