An urgent food recall produced by the food safety control authorities concerns an item imported into our country.
Food recall, is still serious alarm regarding a product that Italy has imported within its borders. There is a very specific article load from abroad to which a substance considered potentially dangerous for the body has been identified.
It is Ochratoxin A, a mycotoxin which is believed to be potentially carcinogenic and which can also cause damage on a genetic level. Ochratoxin A also attacks protein synthesis and particularly affects the kidneys and digestive system. The food recall was urgently triggered by the RASFF.
The European Rapid System for the Safety of Food and Feed has not thought twice about removing the product in question from the market. The food recall concerns gods organic dried figs that come from Turkey.
Ochratoxin A is also found very often in other types of dried fruit, in wine, coffee and cereals. And it can potentially cause damage to the whole body, as it can easily flow into the blood.
Food recall, the alarm from the RASFF today
In the case of this type of mycotoxin there is no maximum quantity tolerated by the current regulations in force in terms of food safety,n Italy and in the European Union.
Even infinitesimal quantities generate the production of a food appeal, just as it happened in this case.

As always, the European Rapid System for the Safety of Food and Feed always monitors on a daily basis in order to identify any offenses.

And at the slightest discrepancy with the rules adopted, the authorities in charge of controlling the food goods circulating on the territory of the EU immediately undertake all the necessary measures. All to guarantee maximum consumer health protection.
