Nephrology Units in Mestre, Venice, and Dolo to Participate in World Kidney Day Initiatives

On Thursday 14 March, the nephrology and dialysis units of the hospitals in Mestre, Venice, and Dolo will be taking part in the activities for World Kidney Day. One of the initiatives, titled “Open doors in nephrology,” aims to educate the public about kidney diseases, promote a healthy lifestyle, and emphasize the importance of research and innovation in this field. The event is being organized by the Italian Kidney Foundation (Fir) and the Italian Society of Nephrology (Sin).

Dr. Mauro Dugo, head of nephrology at the Angelo hospital, outlined the program for the day. There will be a morning meeting with users where information material will be distributed, screening checks will be conducted, and individuals who test positive will be encouraged to get further necessary tests. Free measurements including urinalysis, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, weight, and body mass index will also be offered to study the clinical situation of the users. Consultations with doctors, nurses, and dieticians will be available for participants.

In Mestre, specialists will be stationed on the hospital landing on the first floor, while in Venice, the meeting point will be at the historic pharmacy and museum of pathological anatomy near the hospital entrance. The activity will take place from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm in both locations. In Dolo, the healthcare staff will be available in the waiting room of the atrium above the entrance reception from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Pharmacies in the Venice, Mestre, Dolo, and Mirano areas have also played a role in informing citizens about the event by displaying posters and distributing invitations to participate. This collaborative effort aims to raise awareness about kidney health and encourage individuals to take proactive steps in maintaining their kidney function.
