DeFi covers a variety of different businesses that exhibit the distinctive characteristics of financial services trust-minimized, non-custodial, open, modular and programmable.
To date, at least six main categories of DeFi services can be hypothesized, in addition to auxiliary ones such as oracles and wallets. However, the dividing lines between the various services are not always clear.
