Gender dysphoria, ministry inspectors in Careggi

Today and tomorrow the inspectors from the Ministry of Health will be in Careggi to clarify how the center that deals with gender dysphoria in adolescents works and therefore also of sex change. For many months the majority have targeted the facility, accusing it of not providing a psychological path and of using a drug, triptorelin, which would have side effects.

“We want to know how the center works”

Already in January last year the ministry had set up a commission of experts who then expressed a favorable opinion on the work done by the center. But the controversies did not stop, so much so that another inspection was considered necessary.

“The purpose of our visit is to understand how this center operates, what therapies are used and how they are administered. We want to make sure that the protocols in place are adequate and that the care provided to these young people is of the highest quality,” stated the head of the inspectorate team.

The facility has been under scrutiny for some time, with various advocacy groups and individuals accusing it of not following proper medical and psychological protocols in treating adolescents with gender dysphoria. The use of the drug triptorelin has also sparked controversy, with concerns about potential side effects.

The ministry has stated that it is committed to ensuring the well-being and proper treatment of all individuals seeking care at the center, and that the inspection is part of ongoing efforts to address any concerns and improve the quality of care provided. The results of the inspection are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
