German Bundestag – emergency care should be reformed

Berlin: (hib/PK) According to the Federal Government, Germany fundamentally has a capable system of acute and emergency care, including rescue services. However, the three areas of care must be more closely coordinated and networked in order to ensure needs-based patient control, according to the federal government’s answer (20/9959) to a small question (20/9651) from the Union parliamentary group.

The coalition agreement between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP therefore provides for the further development of the framework conditions for emergency care. The government commission for modern and needs-based hospital care has presented recommendations for a reform of emergency care and the rescue service.

Taking these recommendations into account, the Federal Ministry of Health is currently developing a reform of emergency care. The first legislative process is scheduled to start this year.
