Recently, the market research organization Omdia released a global notebook market forecast report, and it is expected that shipments will reach 258.4 million units in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 17%.

In addition to the regular CPU/graphics card upgrades, there is another highlight this year: the screens of high-end laptops have generally been replaced from LCDs to OLEDs.

According to this report from Omdia, with the increase in demand for high-end laptops this year, many manufacturers tend to use OLED screens to obtain better display effects.

It is understood that the size of the notebook market for OLED screens in 2019 is only 150,000 units, this year is expected to reach 1.48 million units, and it will grow to 2.57 million units in 2022. Although the current market share of such products is less than 1%, the market prospects are broad.

At present, Lenovo, Asus, and Samsung have launched their own OLED screen laptops. Omdia also said that Samsung Display is expanding the production of OLED panels, and it is expected that product sales this year will increase by 5 times year-on-year.

Compared with LCD displays that require backlighting, self-luminous OLEDs have higher viewing angles, brightness, and contrast ratios, low voltage requirements, high power-saving efficiency, fast response, light and thin characteristics, and are regarded as the most potential for development. Display technology. However, the cost of large-size OLEDs has always been very high, so it was difficult to popularize on laptop platforms before.
