Glucose alarm: here are the three foods you should never eat

The “specific weight” of nutrition and lifestyle in general is increasingly evident in recent decades: we are what we eatas an old saying goes, but not only, as many foods are able to have a greater impact than others especially in particular conditions, but very widespread such as high blood sugar. What are the foods not to eat when suffering from this condition?

“Sugar in the blood”

It is an increasingly widespread condition, being in gradual but continuous increase especially in urban contexts. The glycaemia is, trivially, the level of sugars present in the circulatory system, and in moderate quantities it is absolutely essential for the correct functioning of the organism, as it is the energy “source” for the cells. Much of the glucose present in the body is “self-produced” and only partially comes from food intake.

In a healthy body, blood sugar is kept at regular levels through the body’s administration of insulin. On the other hand, those suffering from high blood sugar find it difficult to “keep low” blood sugar values: generally we refer to the term Hyperglycemia in this case, and even if it is instinctively associated with diabetes, it is possible to suffer from high blood sugar even as a result of other diseases, or after a stroke, for example.

The diet therefore assumes an extremely important value: nutrition provides a diet that tends to be not so stringent, since “being a little careful”, it is possible to eat (almost everything). However, there are foods that must be absolutely avoided in case of high blood sugar.

  • The refined starchy foods – So pizza, pasta and bread must absolutely be removed from the menu or at least eaten in great moderation.
  • Desserts, especially industrial ones, are rich in sugars and other industrial sweeteners which represent “enemy number 1”.
  • Products with so-called saturated and hydrogenated lipids, i.e. margarine, butter, cured meats, sausages, and any type of packaged snack and dessert.
