At the just-launched Google Game Developers Conference, Google announced a piece of good news about Chrome OS, and the gaming platform Steam has landed on Chrome OS from now on. Since it is still in the Alpha stage, it is believed that there is still some time before the official version of Steam is launched on Chrome OS.
Rumors about Steam coming to Chrome OS have been around for months, and now only a few Chromebooks support the alpha version of Steam, and these always require an 11th Gen Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor and at least 7GB of RAM, meaning Only the highest-end Chromebooks have been available in the last 18 months.
At present, only 7 Chromebooks support the Alpha version of Steam. Google emphasizes that the current version will have many bugs and omissions. It is hoped that users of the public beta version should wait in line.
