It is not yet the time for the credits but the vaccination campaign against Covid, which started over a year ago, is slowing down in a very evident way, so much so that in the space of a couple of weeks it has halved the doses going from over 3.7 million injections in seven days to the current 1.9 million made in one week. These are mainly third doses, while the new vaccinated both in the age group between 5-11 years and especially among the over 50s – where there are still 1.4 million no vaxes – are in sharp decline. Thus began to close the first hubs in view of a handover of the campaign by the Regions commissioner
The sudden slowdown in the administration
The sharp decline in administrations in hubs and other vaccination centers is recorded by the latest report by Commissioner Figliuolo who records the administrations every week. the last one was on 11 February and compared to the previous week it recorded 1,975,877 additional injections. In practice, the daily dose rate is now around 280 thousand doses per day, far from the 600-700 thousand daily injections of the peaks of the vaccination campaign. The previous week, the one that ended on February 4, the additional administrations had been 3,066,339 (438 thousand doses per day) while the previous week, with the report dating back to January 28, vaccinations had been 3,739,386 compared to the previous week : in practice, at the end of January they proceeded at a sustained rate of 524 thousand doses per day. In the space of a couple of weeks, the speed has therefore halved.
Most third doses, still 5 million without vaccine
Seeing the rhythm of the last week, the trend of the prevalence of third doses is now confirmed, which is between 160 and 180 thousand per day. The second doses are instead about 50-60 thousand, while the first doses – those that indicate the new vaccinated – have been reduced to about 15-20 thousand a day. A sharp slowdown that therefore does not portend a wider reduction in the number of no vaxes in perspective, which is still 5.3 million net of those recovered not vaccinated from Covid in the last 180 days. Among these 1.4 million are over 50, the category most at risk with Covid and which is subject, among other things, to the obligation to vaccinate. While the largest number of unvaccinated is that of children between 5 and 11 years of age with half of the audience having never received a dose for nearly 1.8 million children without even a single dose.
