Lazio Region Announces Plan to Hire Over 8,000 Healthcare Professionals

In a bold move to bolster the healthcare sector in Lazio, the region has announced plans to hire over 8,000 new healthcare professionals over the next two years. President Francesco Rocca unveiled the hiring plan, which will see 6,843 new hires in 2024 and 1,315 new hires in 2025, as well as the stabilization of 1,541 positions for the current year. This initiative comes with a hefty investment of 466 million euros.

This hiring plan is in addition to the 4,054 new hires and stabilizations already granted in 2023, bringing the total number of healthcare workers to 13,753 for a total investment of 661.5 million euros. The new staff will play a crucial role in making interventions outlined in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan fully operational, including the establishment of 59 territorial operations centers, 35 community hospitals, 131 community homes, and 298 large pieces of equipment.

Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, praised the region’s plan, stating that it demonstrates the administration’s commitment to improving healthcare services for citizens and healthcare personnel. The plan has also garnered approval from the CGIL and FP CGIL unions, who see it as a positive step towards revitalizing the regional health service.

CGIL and FP CGIL representatives emphasized the importance of timely competition announcements for the remaining hires and stressed the need for discussions on urgent healthcare issues such as reducing wait times for services and emergency room visits.

Overall, the hiring plan in Lazio is seen as a significant advancement towards strengthening the public health sector and providing better healthcare services for residents. With proper planning and resource allocation, the region is expected to see positive outcomes in healthcare delivery in the coming years.
