Healthcare, Schillaci’s announcement: “We are moving towards postponing the new nomenclator”

Health Minister Schillaci Announces Postponement of New Healthcare Tariff Nomenclature

During a recent event in Rome, Health Minister Orazio Schillaci confirmed the government’s intention to postpone the introduction of a new tariff nomenclature in the healthcare system. The decision comes after discussions with President of the Lazio Region Francesco Rocca and in response to concerns about the adequacy of current tariff rates.

Speaking at the beraking latest news Q&A event ‘Health and healthcare, a shared challenge’, Minister Schillaci emphasized the need for tariffs that reflect the current realities of healthcare delivery. He stated, “We are thinking about the postponement of the provision relating to the new tariff nomenclature, because I believe that it is important to have in some cases tariffs that are more adequate to what is the daily reality today. I believe that we will postpone the measure in agreement with the Regions.”

The Minister also addressed the issue of long waiting lists in the Italian healthcare system, describing them as “the worst calling card of the National Health Service.” He highlighted the lack of precise data on waiting times for medical exams and the need for region-by-region monitoring to address this issue effectively. Minister Schillaci stressed the importance of establishing a single Cup for exams and visits in both the public and private healthcare sectors to streamline patient access to services.

The announcement of the postponement of the new tariff nomenclature and the focus on reducing waiting times demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Italy. With ongoing discussions with regional authorities, Minister Schillaci is working towards a more efficient and equitable healthcare system for all citizens.
