Heart health and allied motors: in Florence free screenings in the auto show

Prevention and a passion for engines join forces in the name of heart health. The prevention campaign promoted by the National Institute for Cardiovascular Research (Inrc) is enriched with an original declination: it will be possible to carry out a complete screening of the heart with the best professionals in the sector, in special stations reserved for measuring blood pressure and electrocardiogram inside the International Motors motor show in Florence, dealer of the Jaguar brand.

The “Heart of Jaguar” initiative

To raise public awareness of periodic cardiovascular checks, the International Motors motor show in Florence, dealer of the Jaguar brand, has decided to open its spaces to visits: Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May it will be possible to carry out a complete screening of the heart free of charge with the professionals of the sector, in dedicated areas of the dealer. The initiative, called “Heart of the Jaguar”, is carried out in collaboration with Inrc and with the team of Professor Francesco Fedele of the La Sapienza University of Rome, and also wants to be a help for those who have had to postpone periodic visits and checks due to the pandemic.

After the pandemic, I risk longer waiting lists

The initiative is a response to the risk of postponing health checks too much. The waiting lists, already Achilles’ heel of the national health system in ordinary times, during the emergency represented the main criticality for citizens, in particular for the most fragile, who in fact were no longer able to access services. According to the «Civic report on health. Citizens’ rights and federalism in health care “, presented in recent days by Cittadinanzattiva, the long waiting times (which represent 71.2% of reports of difficulties in accessing the NHS) refer to interventions in 53.1% of cases surgical and diagnostic tests, in 51% at follow-up visits and 46.9% at first specialist visits.
