Yesterday, a major operation led by the Carabinieri in Sassari resulted in the arrest of two individuals involved in the illicit trade and administration of anabolic substances and narcotic drugs. Personal trainer Fabrizio Piroddu, 45 years old, and Mirko Pinna, 44 years old, both from Sassari, were caught in the act and will appear before a judge for validation of their arrests.
The investigation, which began in December 2023, was sparked by intercepted packages containing drugs and anabolic substances intended for the main suspects. These substances were then illegally marketed to gym goers and bodybuilders, with an estimated turnover of around 80 thousand euros. During yesterdayās operation, a total of 4,700 tablets and 120 vials of doping substances were seized.
Among the 22 suspects targeted in the operation, there is also a police officer who frequents a bodybuilding gym. The operation spanned across four provinces ā Sassari, Nuoro, Turin, and Genoa ā and involved over 100 soldiers from the Carabinieri force. The Public Prosecutorās Office of Sassari is coordinating the investigation, with lawyers Lorenzo Galisai representing Piroddu and Luigi Conti representing Pinna.
The Carabinieriās efforts in cracking down on illegal drug trade and administration highlight their commitment to ensuring public safety and upholding the law. The arrests serve as a warning to those involved in such illicit activities, that they will be held accountable for their actions.
