Hospitalizations for Covid – Medicine rise by 9% in 24 hours

The percentage of places in ‘non-critical area’ hospital wards occupied by patients with Covid-19 rose to 9% in the space of 24 hours in Italy compared to 8% in the last few days. The value was 3% exactly one year ago. The employment of intensive care units, on the other hand, remained stable at 2%, again within 24 hours (a year ago it was also 3%). This is what emerges from the data of the National Agency for Regional Health Services (Agenas) of June 26, 2022, published today.

There are 24,747 new infections from Covid recorded in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health. Yesterday there were 48,456. The victims are 63, an increase compared to 44 yesterday. A total of 100,959 swabs were performed, including antigenic and molecular, with the positivity rate of 24.5%, stable compared to 24.3% yesterday. On the other hand, 234 patients are hospitalized in intensive care, 7 more than yesterday. The daily admissions are 22. The hospitalized in the ordinary wards are 5,873, or 341 more than yesterday. The current positives are 738,851, so 5,411 more in the last 24 hours. A total of 18,259,261 Italians have been infected since the beginning of the pandemic, while the deaths rise to 168,165. The discharged and healed are 17,352,245, with an increase of 19,545.

PREGLIASCO: ‘OMICRON DISASTROSA, MASK ALSO AT THE SEA’
“Sooner or later Omicron we will all make it, it is a disaster, because the virus escapes” and affects “even those who are cured and also the vaccinated. It is true that Omicron creates less severe situations but there is the risk of a further increase in number of cases, which are underestimated, will be about 100 thousand per day in my opinion “. Professor Fabrizio Pregliasco tells Rai Radio1, guest of Un Giorno da Pecora. And the expert suggests protecting yourself with a mask: “even at the sea”. In Italy the positive certificates “are at least 600 thousand – he adds – but in reality they will be double, more than a million” which confirms the forecast of a peak in July and hypothesizes the arrival of a new variant in autumn. Covid for Pregliasco has not “cooled down at all, Omicron is much more than a cold. I expect Omicron5 to peak at the end of July, and then in the fall a new variant, for which there should be a suitable vaccine“. Pregliasco suggests wearing a mask to the sea as well. “Yes, the mask should be worn on the beach in the same way as we wear sunglasses,” he explains.
