Men’s interest in aesthetic medicine is on the rise, with a recent study by Teoxane and Nielsen shedding light on the changing attitudes of men towards cosmetic treatments. According to the study, one in four men have already undergone aesthetic medicine treatments, and 60% are considering it in the future.
During a presentation at the Fabela Boxing Club in Madrid, David Fernández Gómez, General Director of Teoxane Spain, along with Dr. Antonio Di Benedetto and Dr. Miguel Paule, discussed the evolving mentality of men towards aesthetic medicine. The study also showed that men under 41 are the most likely to seek aesthetic treatments, with 30% of male detractors associating it with machismo and homosexuality.
Teoxane and Nielsen interviewed 5,000 Spanish men to gather insights on their experiences and opinions regarding aesthetic medicine. The results showed that 7 out of 10 men are aware of hyaluronic acid and its benefits, with 64% noting its ability to fill in wrinkles and expression lines. However, the main deterrent for men considering treatments is the fear of side effects and the cost.
Dr. Miguel Paule and Dr. Antonio Di Benedetto shared their experiences with male patients during the presentation. Dr. Paule highlighted the trend towards subtle masculinization using hyaluronic acid, while Dr. Di Benedetto noted the shift in societal norms, with men now actively participating in aesthetic treatments alongside their partners.
Overall, the study by Teoxane and Nielsen reflects a growing acceptance and interest in aesthetic medicine among men, signaling a shift towards a more open and inclusive approach to cosmetic treatments.
