Hours waiting in emergency rooms? Soon an app to “track” patients

The Democratic Party in Treviglio is taking action to address issues in public health with innovative proposals and new measures. During the meeting “Let’s take care of public health – Proposals and actions to protect the right to health,” several ideas were discussed to improve the healthcare system for patients and their companions.

One of the key suggestions that emerged at the meeting was the development of a new app that would allow companions of patients in the emergency room to receive real-time updates on their loved one’s clinical status. Giovanni Palazzo, the general director of the Asst Bergamo Ovest, emphasized the importance of providing caregivers with timely and relevant information, especially during long waiting periods in the emergency room.

In addition to the app, there was also discussion about addressing the issue of patients who do not show up for their scheduled medical appointments. According to Palazzo, in Lombardy, one in four patients, or 25%, fail to attend their appointments. This not only leads to inefficiencies in the healthcare system but also impacts the treatment and care of other patients. Palazzo highlighted the need for education and proposed introducing sanctioning mechanisms to address this issue.

Other speakers at the meeting included Cesare Lombardi from the RSA Anni Sereni, Guido Marinoni from the Order of Doctors of the province of Bergamo, and regional councilor Davide Casati from the Democratic Party. The insights and proposals shared at the meeting aim to improve the quality of care and access to healthcare services for all residents in the region. The Democratic Party in Treviglio is committed to taking concrete actions to protect the right to health for all individuals.
