Asma Jahangir Conference: Concerns over the role of international forces in the situation in Gaza

Shawwan Abdullah Jabarin, General Director of Al-Haq, a Palestinian human rights organization in the West Bank, says that there is no problem with international laws for peace in Gaza, but the real problem is the double standards of countries and political leaders.

Shawan Jabarin was addressing the fifth annual two-day conference in Lahore on Saturday, named after Asma Jahangir, a well-known social personality of Pakistan.

Sessions on various topics are ongoing in the conference.

Speaking at the meeting titled “Violation of International Laws in Gaza”, Shawan Jabarin said that “peace can come to Gaza very soon if America wants it.”

“But they don’t want that and that’s why the US administration is providing support and assistance to Israel in every way.”

He added that he is now “hoping for the International Criminal Court (ICC) that this international court will lay hands on the politicians, officials and army of Israel and make them account for the blood of Palestinians.”

UN Human Rights Special Rapporteur Cecilia M. Blatt and Pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Church Reverend Munzer Ishaq also addressed the conference participants via video link.
