The latest action started earlier this week. According to the German police, activists have not yet managed to actually gain access to the Tesla site. However, they reportedly managed to break through some barriers. Fireworks were also set off.

One woman has been injured so far during the protests around the factory site. In addition, three police officers were injured, a police spokesperson said. The police have also made several arrests and several roads in the area have been closed off.

There has been dissatisfaction about the expansion plans for the factory for some time. For example, a few months ago a fire was set at a nearby electricity pylon. That action was claimed by a left-wing extremist action group. As a result, the factory and homes in the Grünheide area were left without power. The factory also shut down for a while after the arson.

Climate activists have also occupied a nearby forest since late February. They stay in tree houses to prevent the deforestation of the forest. Authorities are taking legal action to remove the treehouses and evict the protesters from the forest.
