How is the Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G smartphone: our test

The new range of smartphones from the Redmi linethe one where Xiaomi insists even more on the good relationship between quality and price, was unveiled at the beginning of the year and on Italian Tech we have already tried the cheaper model, simply called Note 11 (spoiler: we liked it).

Now let’s go to the other extreme, where the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5Gwhose long and complicated name says precisely that it is the most powerful of the group and also has 5G connectivity.

The technical characteristics of the Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G

Under the body (the back is very nice, with a matte finish that is pleasant to the touch and does not retain fingerprints) there is a 2.5 GHz Mediatek Dimensity 920 processor, with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of memory internal; there is the headphone jack and there is also the audio system developed together with JBL, of which, however, we have not noticed flickers worthy of mention.

The display is a great display, and it’s one of the things we liked the most: it’s a 6.67 “SuperAmoled with FullHD + resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, but not Ltpo (things?). The rear cameras have 108, 8 (wide angle) and 2 MP (macro) sensors and allow clear and always convincing shots, which seemed slightly better than those of the competition of the same price; from this point of view, the Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G gets along even in low light conditions, thanks to a well-calibrated Night Mode.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G in everyday use

The operating system is the MiUi 12.5.2, based on Android 11, and among the features we least liked about the smartphone: for the first time in a Xiaomi phone we found the continuous notifications on Carousel Wallpapers, Do you want to change the theme ?, Do you want to clean ?, Do you want to optimize?, which are repeated every day and several times a day. If you add to this the presence of many unsolicited and pre-installed apps, it is understood that perhaps the company would need to review the priorities a little with regard to the characteristics of the software.

Also because the Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G is not cheap and therefore you can turn a blind eye: if you spend 450-480 euros for a smartphone (net of discounts and promotions), the last thing you want is to spend half an hour manually deleting, one by one, superfluous apps or apps that you wouldn’t use anyway.

A function that you would never stop using is the super fast charging, made possible by the 120W power supply in the package: in 15-20 minutes, the phone goes from 0 to 100% and even if every time a notification peeps out (never seen before) reminding that “You could overheat your device” (here the opinion of our expert on the subject), this is really one of those characteristics that can change one’s relationship with the smartphone. By putting aside the anxiety from charging and the problem of autonomy. In fact, we don’t know how much it is, but that’s only because it really doesn’t matter.
