“I am here”, the Podcast that tells the life of patients with ulcerative colitis

Five stories of courage and hope, five ulcerative colitis patients who tell their lives. From tomorrow, Thursday 19 May, the premiere will be online. On the occasion of the World Day of Chronic Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, the podcast, created by Salute with the unconditional contribution of Galàpagos and in collaboration with Amici onlus, tries to shed light on a disease that is still too little talked about.

In all, five episodes, five stories and five people suffering from ulcerative colitis. They tell what it means to live every day in this condition, with a thousand physical and psychological difficulties. If talking about pathologies is never easy, there are cases in which it is even less so, because the disease makes you ashamed, it forces you to deal with your body.

A body that cannot be controlled, which suddenly forces you to run to the bathroom. “I am here. My Life with Ulcerative Colitis ”instead is a series of 5 podcasts about just that. Because there is nothing to hide, nothing to be ashamed of. There is no fault in the disease. Antonio, Laura, Sara, Claudio and Michele will let us enter their world and their voices will be joined by those of some professionals who accompany patients along their path: the gastroenterologist, the psychologist, the dietician, who represents the patients and who instead investigates their behavior from a sociological point of view.

The stories intertwine and make it clear that if it is true that patients today are able to find solutions to continue studying, working, going out with friends, forming a family, it is also true that these are not always lasting solutions. That’s why those living with ulcerative colitis are hoping for a better future.
