If the dog eats too much, it is possible that he is suffering from a rare disease called hyperadrenocorticism. It is a serious malfunction of the dog’s adrenal glands, often due to a tumor of the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland is a gland found in the brain that regulates the production of hormones that are important to the dog.
When this gland gets out of control, hyperadrenocorticism is created. Symptoms can be of various types. The dog will be hungrier, more thirsty, go to the bathroom more often and shed his coat. In addition, lesions will form on his skin.

This disease can also lead to death in severe cases. Fortunately, however, it is treatable in various ways. The tumor can be removed surgically or, if this is not possible, special medicines can be given. Recovery is not guaranteed, but there is a good chance of survival if there is no metastasis.
