German Bundestag – Better framework conditions for the use of DiGAs

Berlin: (hib/PK) The AfD parliamentary group is calling for better framework conditions for the use of digital health applications (DiGA). Insured persons received the application either with a doctor’s prescription or directly from the health insurance company, according to an application (20/10731) from the parliamentary group.

At the time of inclusion in the DiGA directory, there does not have to be any proof of medical benefit. Therefore, two thirds of the DiGA would only be accepted provisionally. Manufacturers could set an arbitrarily high price in the first year of admission, which would have to be reimbursed by statutory health insurance for this period, regardless of whether a benefit was proven or not.

The MPs demand that scientific proof of the medical benefits for the insured be provided by the manufacturer before inclusion in the DiGA directory. Inclusion in the DiGA directory must be linked to quality specifications for a user-friendly and target group-oriented design as well as appropriate data protection and data security rules. The reimbursement of costs must be proportionate to other medical and non-medical service providers.
