Kühne is recalling two batches of “red cabbage according to a traditional recipe”. Due to the possible risk of injury due to glass splinters, consumption is strongly discouraged.
A possible health risk caused by glass splinters in red cabbage has caused Carl Kühne KG to recall certain jars of its product “Kühne red cabbage according to a traditional recipe”. The warning, published on the lebensmittelwarning.de portal, is aimed at consumers in the federal states of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Hamburg and Rhineland-Palatinate. Specifically, it’s about 720 milliliter jars with a best-before date of December 15, 2025.
The codes “15.12.2025 Z 2030 NL23 1” and “15.12.2025 Z 2130 NL23 1”, which can be found on the edge of the screw cap, identify the affected batches. There is a risk that some jars in these batches may contain small pieces of glass.
Recall at Kühne: Safety measures and customer service
Customers who have purchased a corresponding glass are asked not to consume it. Kühne KG is taking the incident seriously and is working with the relevant authorities to clarify the cause of the contamination and prevent similar incidents in the future. In the spirit of consumer protection, Kühne offers a refund of the purchase price, even without presenting the receipt, if the affected products are returned.
