Egypt and Slovenia condemn the attacks against the civilian population in Gaza, calling for a rapid ceasefire and free access to humanitarian aid. This is what emerged from a conversation today in Ljubljana between Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon and her Egyptian colleague Sameh Shoukry. “The conflict can only be resolved with the creation of two states, with security guarantees for both Israel and the Palestinians. The international community must take clear measures against those responsible for the forced exodus of Gazans,” he said Shoukry, quoted by regional media. The intensification of Israel’s military operations in southern Gaza would only increase tensions, added the Egyptian minister, who at the same time rejected claims by some media that the Israeli offensive in Rafah could lead to the suspension of the peace agreement between Israel and Egypt. “Egypt will respect the agreement reached over 40 years ago, as long as Israel respects it,” Shokry said. “Slovenia has been calling for a lasting ceasefire in Gaza from the beginning. We are witnessing a humanitarian catastrophe and an intolerable number of deaths”, stated Minister Fajon, according to whom “only a ceasefire can bring peace”.
