According to Windows Central, Microsoft plans to release major versions of Windows every three years, with regular feature updates four times a year. Microsoft currently releases feature updates in spring and fall, and the frequency of future updates will double. At this rate, Windows 12 could be seen in 2024, which also means that the 2023 version of Sun Valley 3 will be cancelled.
Microsoft is rumored to be kicking off a new development schedule starting with Windows 11 22H2 (codenamed Sun Valley 2), aiming to allow Windows to roll out new features at key points throughout the year for a better experience, rather than waiting for major releases renew.
