After Five Years, Latiano School Gym to Finally Be Rebuilt

LATIANO – Five years after a portion of the attic collapsed during renovation work on the gym of the “Bartolo Longo” elementary school in Latiano, causing minor injuries to a worker, progress is finally being made. The prosecutor Raffaele Casto has accepted the request presented by the lawyer of the company carrying out the work to release the structure from seizure. This means that the municipal administration, led by Mayor Cosimo Maiorano, can now proceed with rebuilding the gym practically from scratch.

The incident that occurred five years ago during the renovation work was a setback for the Latiano community, as the gym was an important space for school and community activities. The investigations were opened, and the gym was seized to undergo further scrutiny. However, with the recent decision to release the structure from seizure, the path is now clear for the reconstruction of the school gym.

Mayor Maiorano expressed his excitement for the upcoming reconstruction project, which is set to begin in June once the school activities have finished for the year. The goal is to offer Latiano a new and improved gym, benefitting the entire community. Additionally, there is potential for the project to receive funding from the Regional Pnrr funds, further enhancing the benefits for the Municipality of Latiano.

The release from seizure is a positive step forward for Latiano, and residents can look forward to a revitalized school gym that will serve the community for years to come. Stay updated on news from your province by subscribing to our whatsapp channel.
