A man who scientists at the University of Erlangen have now examined has been vaccinated against Covid more than 200 times. Until now, it was unclear what effects so-called hypervaccination would have.
Researchers examined a man with more than 200 corona vaccinations and found no negative effects on the immune system. According to the scientists, his immune system is working “completely normally,” as the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg announced on Tuesday. Certain immune cells and antibodies against Sars-CoV-2 are even significantly more common than in people who have only received three vaccinations.
The scientists became aware of the man through media reports, who said he had been vaccinated against Covid-19 a total of 217 times. 134 of these vaccinations have been officially confirmed. Eight different vaccines were vaccinated, including different mRNA vaccines, explained Kilian Schober from the Chair of Microbiology and Infection Immunology. When asked, Schober was unable to say what reasons prompted the man to undergo numerous vaccinations.
Until now, it was unclear what effects so-called hypervaccination has on the immune system. Some researchers assume that the immune cells become less effective due to habituation effects. However, this is not the case for the person affected.

The function of the immune system against other pathogens was also unchanged, as further tests showed. The immune system was apparently not damaged by the many vaccinations. The researchers also pointed out that this was an isolated case. It is therefore not possible to draw any far-reaching conclusions or even recommendations for the general population from the results.
