«Definitely from the people: they have been the secret of our success, they always have been and always will be. Today we need to find a good balance between motivation and skills, between professional commitments and personal needs in a particularly difficult moment. For emergency reasons, employees can take up to four additional weeks for family emergencies, we gave an extra day off in March, we organized meetings with psychological experts, we continued to train, at least eight hours per quarter: if the company cares for people, people will take care of the corporate mission, that of pursuing an inclusive future for all, made up of positive economic results for the company that are transformed into value for society, the economy and sustainability. Today we train over 50 thousand people a year including several prisons, from Bollate to Secondigliano, we are starting with the juvenile of the Beccaria in Milan: the recidivism for our formats reaches zero. But we are providing digital technology for the operation of the vaccination center of the Palazzo delle Scintille in Milan, the largest in Italy. It has a positive and motivating effect for our employees, but also a positive impact for the customers who ask us to collaborate on these projects ».
How will the way of working change?
«The work of the future must be based on the freedom of choice, based on individual needs, with the tools that allow you to work in the best possible and secure way, also aiming at automatisms that do without a password. Our study estimates that 58% of people will work at least eight days a month from home in the future, that is a third of the time. Tools that guarantee safety, freedom and quality. That facilitate a hybrid collaboration such as Webex that provides automatic minute, simultaneous translation, artificial intelligence tools for the reasoned re-elaboration of contents and in perspective tools that can be controlled in a natural way through voice commands ».
What role can the Public Administration play in this transformation?
“It is fundamental, starting from the possibility that it will also have to offer a flexible way of working, thanks to a cultural development that makes it possible to work for objectives, not for all three million public employees, but certainly for a good part. Then there is a theme of public service management: there is an enormous margin of digital efficiency in the collection and recycling of waste, in the distribution of water and in the management of urban transport at the local level. And then the crucial role of direction: everything that the NRR will allow us to accelerate will need valid actuators from a technical-organizational point of view ».
